The low pressure system off the coast of Oregon is expected to
move southward through tonight and is forecast to move onshore
into southwestern Oregon on Sunday. Snow currently over the
Pacific Northwest is expected to gradually taper off from north to
south tonight as the system moves farther to the south. Meanwhile,
snow will continue to overspread the higher elevations of northern
California through tonight including the Sierra Nevada before
becoming more scattered in nature on Sunday. An additional inch or
two of snow is possible across the lower elevations of Washington
and Oregon through tonight, with up to 8 inches possible over the
higher elevations of the interior sections. Farther south, up to
10 inches of snow is expected for the higher elevations of
northern California through tonight. The Sierra Nevada is expected
to see more than two feet of snow through Sunday evening. The snow
will also spread into the Intermountain region where up to a foot
is possible through tonight. By Sunday, snow and mixed
precipitation will spread into the Central Plains and Middle
Mississippi Valley before reaching the Ohio Valley and
Mid-Atlantic by Sunday evening. On the heels of this storm,
another system is forecast to arrive Sunday night across the
Pacific Northwest and bring additional snowfall.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 100 AM PST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
