The surface low pressure center over Nebraska is forecast to
intensify, and move northeastward across the Great Lakes and
southern Ontario as the upper-level trough continues to deepen.
Snow will continue to spread further northeastward across the
upper Midwest today and into the upper Great Lakes tonight.
Additional snowfall amounts are expected to range from 4 to 8
inches from the central Plains into the upper Midwest through
Wednesday. Meanwhile, snow and freezing rain are expected to
expand northeastward across the Appalachians and the Mid-Atlantic
states today, reaching New England tonight. Total snowfall amounts
are expected to range from 2 to 6 inches across the interior
Mid-Atlantic, increasing to 6 to 8 inches over the central
Appalachians through tonight. The snow is expected to change over
to freezing rain as warmer air aloft spreads across the region,
resulting in ice accumulation of up to .1 inches over the interior
Mid-Atlantic, and more than a quarter of an inch over the central
Appalachians. The wintry precipitation is expected to spread
further to the northeast into New England on Thursday. Across the
Southeast and Tennessee Valley, rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches,
with locally higher amounts, are expected through Thursday.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 300 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
