The Southwest storm is expected to reorganize as it advances
eastward and will arrive in the Southern Plains by Saturday
morning. During this time, a new surface low is expected to
develop along the boundary in the Lower Mississippi Valley with
the front advancing northward as a warm front. These systems will
then merge Saturday afternoon and track northeastward. Ahead of
the system, moderate to heavy rain is expected across the
Mississippi, Tennessee, and Ohio Valleys and the Mid-Atlantic
throughout Saturday and Sunday, with the Northeast beginning to
see impacts Saturday night. In addition, the Central Plains, Upper
Midwest, and the Great Lakes will receive moderate to heavy
snowfall. Greatest snowfall accumulations ranging from 6 to 10
inches are possible for the Southern Rockies, Central Plains, and
Upper Midwest through Sunday evening. Rainfall accumulations of up
to 2-4 inches are possible across the Lower Mississippi,
Tennessee, and Ohio Valley, with up to 1 inch across the
Mid-Atlantic by Sunday night.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 200 AM MST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
