The storm in the Texas Panhandle will progress northeast across
the Central Plains toward the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes through
Saturday evening. During this time, a new surface low is expected
to develop along the boundary off of the Southeast coast and
advance northward. These two systems are expected to merge
Saturday afternoon and track northeastward. Ahead of the system,
moderate to heavy rain is expected across the Mississippi,
Tennessee, and Ohio Valleys, as well as the Mid-Atlantic,
throughout Saturday and Sunday. By Saturday night, this system
will reach the Northeast. This system is also expected to bring
moderate to heavy snowfall across the Central Plains, Upper
Midwest, and the Great Lakes. Greatest snowfall accumulations
ranging from 6 to 10 inches are possible for the Central Plains,
and Upper Midwest/Great Lakes through Sunday evening. Rainfall
accumulations of up to 2 to 4 inches are possible across the Lower
Mississippi, Tennessee, and Ohio Valleys, with up to 1 inch across
the Mid-Atlantic by Sunday night.
The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 200 PM MST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
