Storm Summary Number 07 for Southwest to Midwest Winter Storm and
Lower Mississippi Valley Heavy Rainfall

...Ongoing heavy snow and rain across the Northern Plains, Upper
Midwest, and Upper Great Lakes. Heavy rain for parts of the Lower
Mississippi/Tennessee/Ohio Valleys and Mid-Atlantic...
Blizzard Warnings are in effect for parts of the Central and
Northern Plains and downwind of the Great Lakes.
Winter Storm Warnings, Watches, and Advisories are in effect for
parts of the Central/Northern Plains, Upper Midwest/Great Lakes,
and Upper Northeast.
Flash Flood Warnings and Watches as well as Flood Warnings and
Advisories are in effect for the Lower Mississippi Valley up
through the Tennessee/Ohio Valleys and Mid-Atlantic, as well as
parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley.
High Wind Warnings and Watches are in effect across the Great
Lakes and Northeast.

At 700 PM MST...A surface low with a central pressure of 995 mb,
or 29.38 inches of mercury, was located over western Missouri.
This low was occluded with a cold front extending southwestward
through eastern Oklahoma and central Texas. A warm front extended
southeastward connecting to a stationary boundary located across
the Southeast. This frontal boundary was connected to a surface
low off of the coast of North Carolina with a central pressure of
1017 mb, or 30.03 inches of mercury. National Weather Service
Doppler radar and surface observations indicated light to moderate
snow across the Central/Northern Plains and portions of the Upper
Midwest and Upper Great Lakes. In addition, light to moderate rain
was observed across the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, Northeast, and
Mid-Atlantic. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rainfall was observed
across the Lower Mississippi/Tennessee/Ohio Valleys ahead of the
fronts as moisture continued to advect northward from the Gulf of
Mexico.

The storm, currently in the Midwest, will continue to progress
northeastward through the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes regions
through Sunday evening. During this time, the warm front,
connected to the surface low along the East Coast, is expected to
advance northward overnight on Saturday, while the cold front
continues to advance eastward. The surface low is expected to be
located over the Great Lakes by Sunday afternoon. Ahead of the
system, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue across
the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys, as well as the Mid-Atlantic and
Northeast, throughout Sunday. This system is also expected to
bring moderate to heavy snowfall across the Central/Northern
Plains, Upper Midwest, and the Great Lakes through Sunday.
Snowfall accumulations of up to 15 inches are possible for the
Upper Midwest/Great Lakes through Sunday evening. Additional
rainfall accumulations of up to 1 inch possible for the Lower
Mississippi, Tennessee, and Ohio Valleys, with up to 1.5 inches
possible across the Mid-Atlantic coast by Sunday night.
