The low pressure center over the Lower Mississippi Valley is
forecast to strengthen and move northeast into the Ohio Valley
tonight. As it does so, heavy rain and severe thunderstorms will
be possible from the central Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley.
Meanwhile, on the cold side of the system heavy snow, sleet, and
freezing rain will be possible from the Southern Plains to the
Upper Great Lakes. Snowfall amounts around 2 to 4 inches are
forecast today from northeast Oklahoma to southern Iowa, with 6 to
12 inches forecast from southern Wisconsin to northern Michigan
through Sunday. Freezing rain accumulations will be a major
concern across southern Michigan, as well as far northern New
England and Upstate New York. As much as 0.5 to 0.75 inches of ice
accretion is possible, which would cause damage to trees and power
lines. Freezing rain is also likely from Missouri to northern
Illinois, with 0.1 to 0.25 inches of ice possible. The storm is
forecast to exit northern New England by Sunday night.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
