The low pressure center over the Ohio Valley is forecast to
strengthen and move northeast towards Lake Erie by tonight. As it
does so, heavy rain and severe thunderstorms will be possible from
the central Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley. Meanwhile, on the cold
side of the system, heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain is
expected from the Central Plains to the Upper Great Lakes.
Snowfall amounts around 2 to 4 inches are forecast today from
northeast Oklahoma to southern Iowa, with 6 to 12 inches forecast
from southern Wisconsin to northern Michigan through Sunday.
Freezing rain accumulations will be a major concern across central
and southern Michigan, as well as far northern New England and
Upstate New York. As much as 0.5 to 0.75 inches of ice accretion
is possible in some cases, and may cause tree damage and power
disruptions. Freezing rain is also likely from Missouri to
northern Illinois, with 0.1 to 0.25 inches of ice possible. The
storm is forecast to exit northern New England by Sunday night.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 300 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
