...Snow and freezing rain move eastward into the Great Lakes and
northern Mid-Atlantic with rain extending from Texas to the Ohio
Valley... 

Blizzard Warnings are in effect for the eastern Dakotas, western
Minnesota, and northwest Iowa.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for eastern Minnesota and
Iowa, western Wisconsin, northwest Illinois, and the western
portion of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, southeast Michigan,
north central New York, southern Vermont, western Connecticut, and
northern and western Massachusetts.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for central North Dakota,
much of Michigan and eastern Wisconsin, northern Ohio, the
northern Mid-Atlantic, and northern New England.

Lakeshore Flood Warnings are in effect for western Michigan.

At 900 AM EST...A large winter storm is continuing to get better
organized as a surface low pressure system with a minimum pressure
of 1005 millibars, or 29.67 inches of mercury, was located over
central Wisconsin. Regional Doppler radars continue to show
scattered showers and thunderstorms from east Texas to the
Mid-South. A zone of freezing rain and sleet is observed ongoing
across southern Michigan, northwest Ohio, eastern Pennsylvania and
into the central Appalachians. Snow is falling across parts of the
northern Plains, Upper Great Lakes and the northern Mid-Atlantic.
Strong winds continue across the Plains with blizzard conditions
ongoing across the eastern Dakotas.

The low pressure system will track east through the Great Lakes
today and into New England by Sunday morning. Snow will continue
to fall over the Upper Great Lakes and into the interior Northeast
with snowfall amounts of 8 to 12 inches expected. Freezing rain
and sleet is also expected in the eastern Ohio Valley and northern
Mid-Atlantic with up to one quarter inch of ice accretion possible
in portions the central Appalachians. Further south, lines of
showers and thunderstorms will track across the Deep South and
Southeast today and Saturday night. The storm system will move
into the northwest Atlantic Sunday afternoon with lingering lake
effect snow showers developing behind the storm.
