The low pressure centers over Pennsylvania and North Carolina are
forecast to intensify and consolidate into a single low which will
then track northeastward toward the coast of New England today.
Snow and wintry precipitation associated with the system will
continue to spread northeastward across the Lower Great Lakes and
New England with expected snowfall totals of 4 to 8 inches across
the Lower Great Lakes. Periods of heavy snow will develop over
central and northern New York into northern New England today with
total accumulations of 12 to 18 inches possible for northern New
England by Saturday morning. On the southern edge of the snow, an
extended area of freezing rain and sleet could result in upwards
of a quarter of an inch of ice accumulation from northern
Pennsylvania/southern New York into central New England.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
