The cold front will continue to move southward and eastward across
the central and eastern U.S. through Wednesday before low pressure
organizes along the front in the Lower Mississippi Valley. The low
will then track northeastward into New England for Friday and
depart into the Canadian Maritimes through Saturday morning. Most
of the snow is forecast to fall in a swath from New Mexico and
northwestern Texas into the Great Lakes and northern Maine.
Additional snowfall accumulations for the Rocky Mountains of
Colorado and New Mexico should be light through tonight but 4-8
inches of snow are expected for parts of the Southern Plains,
Great Lakes and northern New England through Friday morning. A
wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain is expected to fall just
south of the swath of snow from the central Texas/Oklahoma border
into the Midwest and northern Mid-Atlantic/southern New England.
Several inches of rain are possible through Saturday over the
Southeast and Mid-Atlantic with embedded thunderstorms likely.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 800 PM MST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
