Midwest.
Wind Chill Warnings and Advisories are in effect for portions of
central Washington and the Northern Plains.

and advisories, please see www.weather.gov
At 100 PM PST...The axis of a deep upper-level trough that has
produced multiple rounds of precipitation in the western region
has continued to slowly move eastward. The latest surface maps
continue to show a complex surface pattern with multiple waves of
low pressure along several surface fronts stretching from
California to the Upper Midwest. The strongest low pressure system
was located near Kansas City, KS with a central pressure of 996
mb, or 29.41 inches of mercury. A cold front stretched westward
from this low into the Colorado Rockies and into the Great Basin.
A large temperature gradient was located along this front as areas
south in Texas and Oklahoma have experienced temperatures in the
60s/70s, while north of the front, temperatures have dropped below
freezing. A warm front stretched eastward from the low located
near Kansas City, extending into the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic.
RADAR and surface observations indicated moderate precipitation
was occurring north of the warm front in the Great Lakes region.
Snowfall in the far northern portions of the Great Lakes
asscociated with the negatively-tilted upper-level trough will
continue through early evening, with eastern Minneosta and the UP
of Michigan expected to receive another 4-8 inches of snow.
Further west, the snow has begun to wind down in the Rockies,
Great Basin, and California, as the greatest potential for heavy
accumulations has shifted south into the northern terrain of New
Mexico and Arizona due to a potent shortwave. Bitterly cold
temperatures have begun to push further south into Montana and
North Dakota in the wake of the eastward moving storm system, with
numerous surface observations reporting sub-zero temperatures.

Over the next several days, the upper-level trough over the West
is expected to continue to progress slowly east, with multiple
disturbances rounding the the larger-scale system into the week
encouraging additional rounds of snow. While the broad area of
heavy snow has concluded in the western region, localized heavy
amounts remain possible across the Pacific Northwest and
California into the evening. The greatest potential for heavy snow
will be in the Southwest. Moving forward, several feet of snow
will be possible in higher elevations of the Sierra, Tranverse and
Peninsular ranges as a postively-tilted trough develops Wednesday
into Thursday. Travel will remain dangerous and is discouraged as
the heavy snow, cold temperatures, and high winds continue,
especially along mountain passes where long duration closures are
likely. Further east, snowfall in the Upper Midwest is expected to
clear the area later this evening as the disturbance associated
with the upper-level trough pushes northeastward into Canada.
This will be the last Storm Summary issued by the Weather
Prediction Center for this event. Please refer to your local
National Weather service office for additional information.
