The low pressure system over the western Gulf of Mexico will move
northeast across the Southeast to the Mid-Atlantic over the next
24 hours. Rain and thunderstorms will be possible along a
preceding warm front and trailing cold front across the Southeast
and southern Mid-Atlantic. In the cold air mass behind the system
to west and north, significant and widespread impacts from a mix
of wintry precipitation will continue from the Lower Mississippi
Valley northeast through portions of the Midwest and northern
Mid-Atlantic into New England. Significant icing is most likely
from northwest Alabama northeast through the southern Allegheny
Plateau to northeastern Pennsylvania, with totals between 0.25 to
0.5 inches of ice possible. Snow will continue from Arkansas
through the Midwest to northern New York, with the highest totals
likely from eastern Indiana northeast across western and northern
Ohio to western New York. A mix of snow, sleet, and ice will
continue to occur over the Lower Mississippi Valley and move
northeast through the Ohio Valley to the northern Mid-Atlantic and
southern New England. In addition to the wintry precipitation, a
bitterly cold arctic airmass will remain in place over the central
CONUS.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 300 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
