...Snow in the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England will continue
through Saturday morning while a wintry mix ends this afternoon
for the southern Mid-Atlantic...
Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for portions of eastern
Virginia and far southern Maryland.
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of eastern
Maryland, northern Delaware, eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey,
southern New York, and southern New England.

At 900 AM EST...A primary surface low was located off the coast of
the Delmarva Peninsula at approximately 37.5 N, 73 W, with a
minimum central pressure of 1012 mb, or 29.88 inches of mercury. A
stationary front extended to the east-northeast while a stationary
front also extended to the southwest just off the Southeastern
coast to a secondary low pressure center located between coastal
Georgia and Florida, at approximately 31 N, 81 W, and had a
minimum central pressure of 1015 mb, or approximately 29.97 inches
of mercury. A cold front extended southwest from this low over the
Florida Peninsula and into the Gulf of Mexico. Another stationary
front also extended east off of Cape Cod. A widespread area of
rain along and behind the fronts extended from Cape Cod southwest
over the Carolinas to the north Florida Peninsula and into the
Gulf of Mexico. A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain
across the southern Mid-Atlantic, stretching from central Virginia
northeast to southeastern New Jersey, continued to move to the
east. Further north, widespread snow was falling across portions
of the northern Mid-Atlantic from New York, Pennsylvania, and New
Jersey east into southern New England.

The primary surface low off the East Coast will continue to move
northeast into the open Atlantic through Saturday as the trailing
stationary front to the southwest is reinforced by colder air from
the west and pushes east as a cold front. The wintry mix of snow,
sleet, and freezing rain over the southern Mid-Atlantic will end
by early Friday afternoon. Snow will also taper off over the
central Appalachian Mountains. More widespread snow across the
northern Mid-Atlantic and New England will continue through Friday
afternoon and evening before diminishing through Saturday morning.
The heaviest snow will move off the coast of New England overnight
through Friday night and Saturday morning.
