Storm Summary Number 1 for Southern Plains Heavy Rain

...Significant heavy rainfall is forecast to fall over the
Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley today, further
exasperating ongoing flood issues in the region...

Flood Warnings are in effect east of the DFW Metro, and further
southeast along the Gulf Coast.

Flash Flood Watches are in effect across the eastern half of the
Southern PLains into the Lower Mississippi Valley.

A Tornado Watch is in effect over portions of Southeast Texas.

At 300 PM CDT...National Weather Service Doppler RADAR detected
several complexes of thunderstorms progressing through the
Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley. The first was
located over Southeast Oklahoma, extending southward into East
Texas as it raced eastward towards the ArkLaTex border. Additional
thunderstorm development was noted along the southern end of this
line. A second, smaller complex was detected north of San Antonio,
progressing eastward. In Louisiana, showers and thunderstorms were
inching northward in the Southeast Part of the state, roughly
between a Lafayette to Baton Rogue line. At the surface, several
outflow boundaries were analyzed in Southern Texas and Louisiana
associated with the thunderstorm activity.

Through midweek, a weak frontal system and outflows from previous
thunderstorms may help to provide convergent areas that storms
could form along. Additional rainfall of 3 to 6 inches is forecast
to be widespread across much of eastern Texas and into western
Louisiana through Thursday, with locally even higher amounts
possible. Moderate Risks of excessive rainfall and Flash Flood
Watches are in place.
