...Scattered showers and storms will continue today across the
South ahead of a cold front as the widespread heavy rain across
the region begins to taper off overall...

Flood Warnings remain in effect mainly along areal rivers for
portions of southeast Texas and the Lower Mississippi Valley.

At 1000 AM EDT...A persistent upper-level trough has moved
eastward over the Southeast U.S. ahead of a ridge building over
the southwest U.S. A stationary front was located across North
Carolina and meandered northwest through the Appalachians into the
Ohio Valley and Midwest, with a cold front extending southwest
from the Midwest into the Southern Plains. National Weather
Service Doppler Radar indicated a few scattered showers and storms
along the stationary front, mainly across western North Carolina.

The stationary front located over North Carolina will move south
as a cold front throughout the day. A Slight Risk of excessive
rainfall is in effect for coastal South Carolina, with a Marginal
Risk in effect for a larger portion of the Southeast and
Appalachians along and ahead of the front. Rainfall of up to about
3 inches is possible with storms that form ahead of the front. The
cold front over the Midwest and Southern Plains will also slowly
progress southeastward, with a Marginal Risk of excessive rainfall
in effect ahead of the front over the Mississippi Valley. Some
scattered storms may produce locally heavy rainfall given the
moist air in place across the region. As the cold front continues
southward outside of the region that has seen the significant
rainfall from this event, and the persistent upper-level trough
begins to break down with the ridge building to the west, the
overall heavy rain and flood threat will continue to decrease. All
flood related watches have also been allowed to expire. Therefore,
this will be the last storm summary on this event.
