At 900 PM CDT...A multi-faceted and potent storm system continued
to track northeastward across the Plains, with an occluded surface
low analyzed over central North Dakota with a central pressure of
991 mb, or 29.26 inches of mercury. A secondary low presure center
along the triple-point was analyzed over the northwest mitt of
Michigan with a pressure of 996 mb, or 29.41 inches of mercury.
South of the triple point, a cold front extended southward into
the Southern Plains. A stationary warm front stretched eastward
from the triple point through the Great Lakes region and into
southern Ontario and New England. Regional Doppler RADAR mosaic
imagery and surface observations continued to show moderate to
heavy snowfall falling over central North Dakota within the comma
head region of the storm. In addition to the snow, strong wind
gusts of 40-50 mph are being observed across the Dakotas, leading
to blizzard conditions. In the warm sector of this expansive
system, a swath of severe weather was noted along a squall line
racing eastward across the Ohio Valley into the Lower Mississippi
Valley.
