At 900 AM CDT...A low pressure center with a minimum central
pressure of 990 mb, or 29.23 inches of mercury, was located in
western Minnesota along the border of North Dakota and South
Dakota. An occluded front extended from this low pressure center
to the northeast to the triple point in southwestern Ontario, with
a warm front extending east into the Great Lakes, and a trailing
cold front extending south and west into the Middle Missouri
Valley and Southern Plains. National Weather Service Doppler Radar
and surface observations indicated a broad area of moderate
snowfall occurring to the northeast of the surface low, from
northwestern Minnesota stretching westward into eastern North
Dakota and northern South Dakota. Lighter snow bands were also
located in western portions of the Dakotas. Surface observations
indicated winds remained strong, with sustained winds across the
Northern and Central Plains between 25 to 35 miles per hour and
gusts as high as 50 to 60 miles per hour.

Blizzard conditons are forecast to continue through Sunday
evening, before winding down as the low-pressure system weakens
and slowly exits into the Canadian province of Ontario. An
additional 2-4 inches of snow, with isolated amounts of 6 inches,
are possible in central portions of North Dakota. Strong, gusty
winds will continue leading to near-zero visibility at times and
dangerous travel conditons.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 PM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
