Storm Summary Number 3 for Heavy Rainfall and High Winds
Associated with Kay
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
800 PM PDT Sat Sep 10 2022
...Direct threat of heavy rainfall from the remnants of Kay
winding down...
Flash Flood Warnings were in effect for a few isolated locations
in southern California and northern Arizona.
Flood Watches were in effect for portions of southern California,
southern Nevada, and northwestern Arizona.
For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov
At 700 PM PDT...the remnant low associated with Kay was located
over the Pacific Ocean near 31.2N, 120.8W, or about 220 miles WSW
of San Diego. A couple outer bands of light to moderate showers
were moving towards the northwest along coastal California near
San Luis Obispo and from Santa Barbara southeast towards the
western side of metro Los Angeles. Additional moderate to heavy
showers continued further east along a moisture plume associated
with Kay over the Mojave Desert and along the Mogollon Rim in
Arizona. Anomalously high moisture was contributing to high rain
rates with individual storms leading to an isolated risk of flash
flooding, particularly near areas of higher terrain.
