and advisories, please see www.weather.gov

At 300 AM EST...An occluded low pressure center analyzed over
north-central Minnesota while an associated triple point low was
located just north of Michigan's U.P. over Lake Superior. The
storm system is slowly drifting east-northeast this morning and
approaching southern Ontario. Connected to the triple point low is
a strong cold front that is ushering in a frigid Arctic airmass
that has engulfed the Midwest and is now approaching the Middle
Mississippi and Ohio River Valleys. Blustery wind gusts as high as
25-30 mph were observed over the Midwest in wake of the cold
frontal passage while at the same time, high pressure in
south-central Canada takes hold of the northern High Plains. Early
morning Doppler Radar imagery identified ongoing periods of snow
across central and eastern North Dakota that expanded as far east
as northern Minnesota. Meanwhile, a narrow band of wintry mix was
tracking northeast through the Minnesota Arrowhead.

Snow showers, falling heavily at times, will continue across
northern Minnesota this morning while snow showers diminish across
eastern North Daokta. Locations impacted by snow showers and
lingering 20-30 mph wind gusts would lead to visibilities near
zero at times, due to blowing and drifting snow. The occluded low
will weaken throughout the day as it moves east, pulling the
lingering shield of snow showers east. By tomorrow evening, the
snowfall threat will come to an end over the region as the system
enters southeast Canada Friday evening and eventually reaches
northern New England by Saturday morning.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 400 PM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
