This storm system is expected to move off to the east across the
north-central Plains on Friday. This will drive a cold front
northeast to southwest from Minnesota to southern California with
precipitation occurring along it. In the Intermountain West,
additional snowfall totals will be up to 8 inches in portions of
Idaho, Utah, western Wyoming, and northwestern Montana, with as
much as 12 to 18 inches in north-central Utah. Meanwhile, the
heaviest snowfall will be in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with 1 to
4 feet of snow expected. The snowfall rates will be particularly
dangerous, and may exceed 3+ inches per hour in the higher
elevations. Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate as a
result across the region, and there will also be an additional
risk of avalanches on backcountry roads.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 700 AM PST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
