Areas of moderate to locally heavy snow and strong winds will
impact the Midwest and Upper Great Lakes tonight as low pressure
strengthens toward the Lower Great Lakes early Friday. Rain
showers will be sweeping through the central Appalachians and
Mid-Atlantic through early Friday as the approaching cold front
crosses the region. Another surface wave moving through coastal
areas of the Mid-Atlantic overnight will merge with the primary
system over the Great Lakes on Friday and will spread moderate to
heavy rainfall across portions of New York and New England. In the
wake of the cold front, frigid Arctic air will arrive over the
eastern half of the country through Friday with high and low
temperatures likely to be as much as 20 to 30 degrees below
average. Blizzard conditions will persist over portions of the
Upper Midwest and Midwest through Friday night with a combination
of heavy snow and strong winds. Please consult WPC's latest winter
weather Key Messages for updates on the progression this week's
blizzard and Arctic blast impacting the country.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
