...Moderate to Heavy snow continues downwind of the Great Lakes
with isolated blizzard conditions while frigid temperatures
persist in the eastern half of the nation...
Blizzard Warnings are in effect downwind of Lake Ontario.
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect
for parts of the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes.
Hard Freeze and Freeze Warnings are in effect for much of the
South and parts of the Southeast.
Wind Chill Warnings and Wind Chill Advisories are in effect for
parts of the central and eastern U.S.

At 800 AM CST...Surface observations show a strong surface low
with an approximate central pressure of 976 mb (28.82 in Hg) over
western Quebec. National Weather Service radar and surface
observations continue to show areas of lake effect snow persisting
downwind of the Great Lakes with the heaviest snow bands off of
Lake Erie and Lake Ontario in western New York. Some gusty winds
continue across the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and the central and
northern Appalachians with winds occasionally gusting over 30 mph.

Moderate to heavy lake effect snow and gusty winds will continue
through today then gradually subside early Monday as the low
pressure system continues to weaken. Storm total snowfall amounts
are forecast to reach as high as 2 to 4 feet before the snow
tapers off. Well below average temperatures will continue through
tonight, then temperatures will return to near seasonal values by
midweek.
