The low pressure of this system will become stationary over the
Upper Midwest through tonight with continued light to moderate
snow and some freezing rain continuing to affect the area.
Snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour (locally higher) are
expected tonight south of Lake Superior, with additional snowfall
totaling up to 6 to 8 inches, with locally higher amounts
possible. Gusty winds during the event could result in areas of
blowing and drifting snow, which may lead to snow-covered roads
and reduced visibility. Precipitation develops across the
Northeast ahead of the eastward progressing cold front today.
Initially, much of this precipitation will be rain, but colder air
arriving from the north will result in a wide swath of freezing
rain across the interior Northeast starting tonight. The resulting
ice accumulation may exceed 0.25 inches for portions of the North
Country of New York. On Thursday, much of the snow and freezing
rain across the Upper Midwest will taper off as the low pressure
weakens. The focus of this storm system will then shift entirely
to the Northeast.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
