A Blizzard Warning is in effect for portions of extreme eastern
Maine.
Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for portions of western
mainland Michigan and the coastal Northeast.
Lake Effect Snow Warnings are in effect for portions of northwest
Pennsylvania and western New York downwind of Lake Erie.
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of Upper and
Lower Michigan, downwind of Lakes Ontario and Erie, and from the
northern New Jersey to northeast Maine.

At 900 AM EST...A low pressure system was analyzed off the
Northeast coast approximately 100 miles to the east of Cape Cod,
MA. Surface troughs of low pressure were analyzed extending to the
north and west of this low pressure center, while a cold front
extended south into northern Florida. Further west, a dying
stationary boundary was observed meandering from the Upper Great
Lakes to southern Maine. Surface observations and doppler radar
indicated moderate to heavy snow was falling downwind of the Great
Lakes and throughout the Northeast.

Throughout the day the low pressure system is expected to slowly
progress northeast over the open ocean before reaching Nova
Scotia, Canada this evening. To the north and west of this system
moderate to heavy snowfall is forecast to continue througout the
day and into the overnight hours, with the heaviest accumulations
likely to occur over eastern Maine. Further west Lake Effect Snow
will also persist due to a combination of prevailing northwesterly
winds and surface instability. In all affected areas travel will
be difficult and, at times, hazardous due to poor road conditions
and visibility.
