The northernmost surface low is expected to give way to developing
low pressure over the Southern Plains tonight. Southwesterly flow
over-top the colder air to the east will support heavy snow rates
up to 1"/hr across Iowa into northern Missouri. Ample moisture and
ascent will remain to continue producing heavy snow across
Missouri and western Illinois overnight tonight into tomorrow
morning while slowly weakening in intensity throughout the day
tomorrow, before ending in earnest overnight tomorrow evening into
Sunday across northern Arkansas. An additional 4-6" are expected
across south-central Iowa with 3-6" across northern Missouri and
far western Illinois. Snowfall rates may reach 1"/hr within those
ares. As the winds shift away and further south, lingering 1-3" is
expected across central to southern Missouri into Arkansas before
the event is over.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
