central pressure of 969 mb, or approximately 28.61 inches of
mercury, was located about 150 miles east of Boston, MA and south
of the coast of Maine. An occluded front extended to the northeast
along the coast of Nova Scotia, connecting to warm front extending
east and a cold front extending south across the open Atlantic. A
secondary cold front was located to the west of the primary cold

National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated widespread snow
continued across portions of New England, with two particularly
heavy snowbands occurring north to south across central Maine and
central Massachusetts. Surface observations indicated sustained
winds of 5-10 mph inland, with winds of 15-20 mph closer to the
coast, particularly southeastern Massachusetts. Wind gusts of
35-40 mph were noted in Maine as well as Massachusetts.

The low pressure center will continue to the north into the
Canadian Maritimes overnight, with snowfall ending south to north
across New England as the system moves away. The last of the snow
should end for eastern Maine early Sunday morning. Another 4-6
inches of snow is likely for eastern Maine, with a couple more
inches further south across southern New England. Isolated higher
totals are possible in the remaining heavy snow bands. In addition
to the snowfall, overnight temperatures will be bitterly cold
across New England as lows dip into the single digits to a few
degrees below zero. These cold temperatures along with ongoing
winds will lead to wind chills of 15-25 degrees below zero Sunday
morning across interior portions of New England and New York.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
