At 800 PM CST...A mostly stationary front was draped across the

Midwest, southwest into the Central Plains, and northwest through
the Central Rockies into the Pacific Northwest. The primary low
pressure center along this front was analyzed just west of Kansas
City, MO, with a minimum central pressure of 1001 mb, or 29.56
inches of mercury. Doppler Radar observations indicated isolated
bands of moderate snow continued over Minnesota, portions of South
Dakota, southeastern Wyoming, northern and western Colorado, and
eastern and southern Utah. A wintry mix was also observed over
central Wisconsin. Surface observations indicated a sharp contrast
in temperature across the boundary, with temperatures in the 50s
and 60s to the south quickly dropping below freezing to the north.
The coldest temperatures were located over the Central and
Northern Plains, with temperatures in the single digits in
Nebraska down to the negative teens in North Dakota. Gusty
northerly winds were contributing to widespread frigid wind chills
well below 0.
