1000 AM EST Wed Feb 23 2022
...Snow across the Great Plains, Midwest and New England has
tapered off as the low pressure system moves northeastward into
the Canadian Maritimes...
Wind Chill Warnings and Advisories are in effect for portions the
Northern Rockies, the Plains, and the Upper Midwest.
For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov
At 900 AM EST...A low pressure center was analyzed in southeast
Ontario, Canada with a central pressure of 1001 mb or 29.56 inches
of mercury. An occluded boundary extended south from the low
connecting to a warm front near the U.S. & Canada border and
stretching northeastward, with additional areas of low pressure
being located along the frontal boundary, one being analyzed at
997 mb in northeast New Brunswick. A well-defined cold front was
also analyzed extending southward from the triple point into
interior New England, the Ohio Valley and through the Southeast,
before curling back northward into a low pressure system located
near the Colorado Rockies. A large temperature gradient was being
observed along this cold front, with temperatures in the 50s & 60s
ahead of the boundary in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, before
quickly dropping to the 30s and 40s behind the front. Furthermore,
latest surface observations and RADAR indicated that the snow
associated with the storm system had exited into Canada, with some
light snow showers lingering in eastern Maine.
