...Heavy snow and high winds expected across portions of the
Northern Rockies...

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect
across portions of the Northern Rockies. A separate Winter Storm
Warning is in effect atop the western slope of the Black Hills.

A Blizzard Warning is in effect over Southwest Montana.

High Wind Warnings extend across much of the High Plains.

At 1000 PM EDT...Surface observations and radar imagery across the
Northern High Plains depict scattered moderate to locally heavy
rainfall on the northwest flank of a potent surface cyclone over
Southeast Montana. Sporadic elevation snow showers were noted in
the Intermountain West, while strong gradient winds buffeted much
of the Plains and Intermountain West.

Beginning tonight, the aforementioned rain will transition to snow
across the Northern Rockies, and increase in intensity by late
Tuesday afternoon. As much as 1-2 feet of snowfall can be expected
in the higher terrain of the Northern Rockies. Overall winter
storm impacts over the next two days are expected to be highest
across the Big Belt and Little Belt mountains in Southwest
Montana, owing to heavy blowing snowfall.
