As the second wave of low pressure continues to develop over Texas
and track northeastward, a second episode of heavy rainfall is
forecast to impact areas from the eastern portion of the Southern
Plains into the Mid-Mississippi Valley and possibly into Ohio
Valley through tonight and into Friday morning. This will be
followed by repeated formation of low pressure waves across the
same general areas through Saturday, before the stationary front
begins to push farther east into the Deep South on Sunday. This
multi-day excessive rainfall event will bring serious concern of
potentially historic amounts of rainfall into portions of the
Mid-Mississippi/Tennessee Valleys, lower Ohio Valley and into
eastern Ozarks. Widespread rainfall totals of 5 inches with some
locations seeing 10-15+ inches will lead to serious concern of
catastrophic life-threatening flash flooding in these areas. These
rainfall amounts could also result in catastrophic river flooding
through the weekend in western Kentucky and northwestern
Tennessee. In addition, widespread significant river flooding is
expected from the Ozarks through the lower Ohio Valley.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 PM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
