serious concern of historic flash flooding across the Mid-South...

Flood Watches are in effect from eastern Oklahoma and northeastern
Texas through the Mid-Mississippi and Ohio Valleys.

Flood Warnings are in effect for much of the Ohio Valley as well

and advisories, please see www.weather.gov

At 900 AM CDT...A weather pattern that supports repeated formation
of vigorous low pressure systems along a nearly stationary front
across the east-central U.S. continues to produce additional
rounds of excessive rainfall from the eastern portion of the
southern Plains through the Mid-Mississippi and Ohio Valleys.
National Weather Service radar and surface observations showed
that an area of heavy rain with embedded lines of strong to severe
thunderstorms was expanding across much of Oklahoma into northern
Arkansas and southern Missouri as the next upper-level trough
arriving from the southern Rockies began to interact with the
stationary front.

As additional upper-level impulses move off the southern Rockies
and interact with the stationary front across the southern Plains,
waves of low pressure will repeatedly form over the same general
area, resulting in two more days of excessive rainfall across the
east-central U.S. Widespread rainfall totals of 5 inches, with
some locations seeing 10-15+ inches, will lead to serious concern
of catastrophic, life-threatening flash flooding in these areas,
especially across the Mid-South. In addition, widespread
significant to potentially catastrophic river flooding is
anticipated through the weekend in the Ozarks, Middle Mississippi
Valley, and Ohio Valley.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 PM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
