Moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms will continue to
advance east from the lower Missippi and Tennessee valleys into
portions of the Southeast today. These storms may produce heavy
rainfall accumulations, resulting in localized flash flooding from
the central Gulf Coast to the southern Appalachians. Numerous
flooding events are possible across portions of central and
southern Alabama, where some of the heaviest rainfall amounts are
expected to occur today. The threat of storms and heavy rainfall
will continue to shift east on Monday. However, the threat of
widespread significant to potentially catastrophic river flooding
is expected to continue from the lower Ohio to the lower
Mississippi valleys.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 PM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
