The cyclone is expected to strengthen rapidly/bomb as it edges
northeastward into Sunday morning, while remaining offshore North
Carolina. During this time, additional snowfall of 4-8 inches,
with local amounts up to 12 inches, are possible from eastern
Tennessee, the western Carolinas, and eastern portions of North
Carolina west of the sounds. Across portions of southern
Virginia, northeast Georgia, and the central Carolinas, 3-5 inches
of new snow, with local amounts to 7 inches, are expected. High
winds, occasionally exceeding 58 mph, are anticipated for the
coasts of North Carolina and southeast Virginia; the combination
of heavy snow and high winds could lead to blizzard conditions,
leading to extremely treacherous travel. During the day Sunday,
the storm will rapidly move east-northeast a fair distance
offshore the Mid-Atlantic and New England coasts, which ends the
winter weather threat for the region.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 PM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
