The cyclone will be rapidly strengthening tonight as it stays
offshore parallel to the east coast. Heavy to moderate snow is
expected to continue to fall across the eastern Carolinas into
southern Virginia. High winds, occasionally seeing gusts over 60
mph, are anticipated for the coastal Atlantic from the Carolinas
to Cape Cod;the combination of heavy snow and high winds could
lead to blizzard like conditions, leading to extremely treacherous
travel. Coastal areas may also see coastal flooding and high waves
from the strong winds. During the day Sunday, far eastern areas of
Massachusetts, particularly Cape Cod and surrounding islands, will
see a few inches of snowfall with strong wind gusts as high as 60
mph. The area of low pressure will be departing offshore waters
during the day Sunday. The continued Arctic air mass in wake of
the storm will bring hazardously cold temperatures and wind chills
across the South and East. Cold weather precautions should be
taken.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
