...Lake effect snow and gusty winds continue across the Great
Lakes...

Lake Effect Snow Warnings are in effect for downwind areas of Lake
Erie and Lake Ontario.

At 900 PM EST...Strong west-northwesterly winds persisted across
the Great Lakes region on the backside of a departing low pressure
system. National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated moderate
to heavy lake effect snow bands forming off of all of the Great
Lakes, with the heaviest snow downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario.
Wind gusts were beginning to decrease across the western Great
Lakes, but gusts remained at 25-40 mph across the eastern Great
Lakes.

Lake effect snow bands and wind gusts should decrease across the
Great Lakes overnight into Saturday morning as weak high pressure
shifts overhead, then the next low pressure system will approach
the region from the southeast. This next system will bring winter
storm conditions to the Midwest and Great Lakes Saturday into
Sunday.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather

Dolan
