The leading occluded frontal system is expected to lift northward
through the Mississippi Valley to the Lower Great Lakes today and
through the Northeast Saturday into Sunday. Strong to severe
thunderstorms will be possible through Saturday morning as storms
sweep across the Deep South, Southeast, and southern Mid-Atlantic
regions. Within the cold sector of this system moderate to heavy
snow, possibly a wintry mix, will blanket the Midwest, Great
Lakes, and Northeast. Wind speeds will likely increase in response
to the low deepening along its trek across the country causing
blowing and drifting snow and blizzard-like conditions that will
impede travel and other daily activities.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST Sat Jan 13 2024. Please refer to your local
National Weather Service office for additional information on this
event.
