The Nor'easter is expected to rapidly intensify through Monday
morning while tracking north along the East Coast. Snow is
forecast to increase in intensity overnight into Monday morning,
with snowfall rates of 2-3 inches per hour at times and snowfall
totals as high as one to two feet from the Delmarva Peninsula to
Massachusetts. The combination of heavy snowfall and strong wind
gusts (40-70 mph) will result in blizzard conditions across these
regions, and sharply reduced visibility will make travel extremely
treacherous. These strong winds combined with the weight of heavy,
wet snow, should result in scattered to numerous power outages.
Additionally, moderate to major coastal flooding, with the
inundation of roads and property near the waterfront, is forecast
from Delaware to Cape Cod.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
