Strong mid to upper level shortwave will finally exit the southern
Rockies today and spur a stronger surface low out of the western
Gulf of Mexico along the trailing edge of the stubborn stationary
front. The combination of the upper-level low and the surface low
will spark an additional round of stronger thunderstorms with the
capability of rainfall rates and possible localized flash flooding
across portions of the Lower Mississippi River Valley later Friday
into Saturday morning, as well as contributing to the swollen
rivers/streams increasing riverine flooding through the weekend.
Eventually, storms will be quicker moving as the front and surface
low progress northeastward into the southern Appalachians late
Saturday into Sunday. Scattered instances of flash flooding are
possible given additional 1 to 3 inches of rainfall with the
highest risk across Louisiana, Southern Mississippi and central
Alabama, with the risk on Saturday into Sunday across northern
Georgia into the southern Appalachians.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
