The upper level low supporting the low pressure system in the
southern Plains will continue to move east while another low moves
north out of the western Gulf of Mexico tonight. This will spark
an additional round of showers and thunderstorms with potentially
high rainfall rates across portions of the Lower Mississippi River
Valley tonight into Saturday morning. The low pressure system
moving out of the southern Plains will track across the South
tonight and the Southeast on Saturday before moving towards the
Mid-Atlantic region on Sunday. This will finally pull the
stationary frontal boundary to the east over the weekend, bringing
an end to this prolonged period of heavy rainfall. Scattered
instances of flash flooding will be possible in the Lower
Mississippi Valley overnight tonight and in the southern and
central Appalachians on Saturday. Any additional rainfall will
also exacerbate ongoing river flooding through the weekend.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
