Snow will continue into the afternoon and may bring additional
accumulations of 1-3 inches across eastern Colorado and the
Rockies foothills, including the Denver metro. 6-10 inches of
additional snow are in the forecast for the higher terrain of the
Rockies across central and southern Colorado. The Winter Storm
Index shows Minor impacts remaining across southern Colorado with
heavy, wet snow making travel difficult in the higher passes. Some
snowfall may move southward into the high terrain of northern New
Mexico as well. Later this afternoon into the evening, snow should
begin to taper off as an mid-level disturbance leaves the region.
Cold morning low temperatures in the 20s Thursday, particularly
for May, across the Central Plains and the Inter-Mountain West
will be hazardous for the Spring growing season.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 PM MDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
