Hurricane Marty - September 21-26, 2003
Early on September 22, Hurricane Marty entered the Gulf of
California after passing northward through the southern tip
of Baja California. Moving quickly to the north, the cyclone
scraped the coast and moved into the northern end of the
Gulf before stalling due to a blocking ridge over Nevada. Then a
tropical depression, the cyclone spread rains
across
Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas before becoming a remnant low on
the evening of September
24.
The low slowly drifted south-southwest, dissipating over the northern
Baja California peninsula on September
26.
Below is its track, provided by the National Hurricane Center.
The graphics below show the storm total rainfall for Marty, which used
data from the
National Climatic Data Center
and the Comision Nacional del Agua, parent agency of Mexico's National
Weather Service.
