Tropical Depression Eleven - September 8-14, 1973

A tropical depression formed near Swan Island while Delia was approaching Texas.  The depression moved
northwest until nearing the Texas coast before slowing down during recurvature.  This led to over 10 inches
of rain across the Middle Texas coastline due to the systems slow motion.  Thereafter, the depression moved
through the Deep South, and on the 13th merged with an extratropical cyclone moving by to its north, helping
to form a stronger cyclone offshore the East coast by the morning of the 14th.  The graphics below show the
storm total rainfall for the tropical depression, with data provided by the National Climatic Data Center in
Asheville, North Carolina.
