WINTER STORM WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF NEW
MEXICO...WESTERN TEXAS INCLUDING THE TEXAS PANHANDLE...OKLAHOMA
AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS. HEAVY SNOW WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR
PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST ARIZONA...SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO AND THE TEXAS
PANHANDLE.

ICE STORM ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL
TEXAS.

SNOW ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTHERN AND WESTERN EDGES
OF THE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES...AS WELL AS PORTIONS OF
SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS AND SOUTHEASTERN ARIZONA.

WINTER STORM WATCHES HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF EASTERN
KANSAS...NEBRASKA...SOUTHWESTERN IOWA...MISSOURI...WESTERN
ILLINOIS...AND NORTH CENTRAL ARKANSAS.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT FOR A NARROW AREA
EXTENDING FROM SOUTHWESTERN TEXAS NORTHEASTWARD INTO SOUTHEASTERN
OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN ARKANSAS. 

AT 900 PM CST...A MIDDLE TO UPPER LEVEL CLOSED LOW WAS LOCATED
OVER THE NORTHERN GULF OF CALIFORNIA IN MEXICO AND WAS SLOWLY
MOVING TO THE EAST. THIS MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVER THE
NEXT 24 HOURS. AS PACIFIC MOISTURE BEING STEERED BY THE
SUBTROPICAL JET IN ADVANCE OF THE LOW ENCOUNTERS AN ARCTIC
AIRMASS...UNSETTLED WEATHER WILL ENSUE...USHERING IN ANOTHER
WINTRY MIX FOR THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES AND PLAINS STATES.

RECENT RADAR TRENDS HAVE SHOWN A SWATH OF PRECIPITATION SPANNING
ACROSS PARTS OF ARIZONA...NEW MEXICO...NORTHERN AND WESTERN
TEXAS...SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA...AND SOUTHERN ARKANSAS. SURFACE
OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION REACHING THE
GROUND HAS BEEN RAIN...HOWEVER...A MIXTURE OF SNOW...SLEET AND
FREEZING RAIN HAS BEEN FALLING THROUGH NEW MEXICO AND THE TEXAS
PANHANDLE WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE COLD ENOUGH TO SUPPORT FROZEN
PRECIPITATION. 

SELECTED SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN INCHES THROUGH 3 PM CST FRIDAY...

SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 24
HOURS...WITH 8 TO 12 INCHES OVER NEW MEXICO AND THE TEXAS
PANHANDLE. AS THIS STORM CONTINUES TO MOVE INTO THE PLAINS...THE
PRECIPITATION WILL CROSSOVER TO FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET IN CENTRAL
TEXAS...OKLAHOMA AND ARKANSAS...WHILE AREAS TO THE NORTH WILL
EXPERIENCE LIGHT SNOW. UP TO A HALF INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATION IS
EXPECTED ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS BY SUNDAY.
