WHILE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS RAKE ACROSS THE DEEP SOUTH...     
 
BLIZZARD WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST KANSAS
AND SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA.
 
WINTER STORM WARNINGS AND WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT
FOR MUCH OF THE NORTHERN PLAINS FROM NEBRASKA NORTHWARD TO NORTH
DAKOTA. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE ALSO IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS
OF NORTHEAST MINNESOTA EASTWARD TO THE UPPER PENINSULA OF
MICHIGAN.
 
HIGH WIND WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FROM NORTHERN TEXAS NORTHWARD TO
SOUTHERN NEBRASKA.

AT 900 AM CDT...A SURFACE LOW WITH A CENTRAL PRESSURE OF 993
MB...29.32 INCHES...WAS CENTERED NEAR KANSAS CITY AND MOVING
TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST. A FRONTAL BOUNDARY EXTENDED SOUTHWARD FROM
THE LOW INTO SOUTH TEXAS. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADARS AND
SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATED A LARGE AREA OF PRECIPITATION NORTH
OF THE SURFACE LOW...FROM KANSAS AND MISSOURI NORTHWARD TO NEAR
THE CANADIAN BORDER. FROM EASTERN NEBRASKA AND IOWA
SOUTHWARDS...THIS PRECIPITATION WAS FALLING IN THE FORM OF RAIN.
FARTHER NORTH AND WEST...FROM WESTERN NEBRASKA NORTHWARD INTO THE
DAKOTAS...SNOW WAS FALLING...HEAVY AT TIMES. GUSTY WINDS WERE ALSO
OCCURRING ACROSS MUCH OF THE CENTRAL U.S...WITH GUSTS OF 50 TO 60
MPH REPORTED AT TIMES...CREATING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IN SOME
AREAS. FARTHER SOUTH AND EAST...IN THE WARM SECTOR OF THE
STORM...SHOWERS AND THUNDESTORMS WERE OCCURRING ACROSS PORTIONS OF

THE SURFACE LOW NEAR KANSAS CITY WILL CONTINUE TO LIFT
NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH SATURDAY...REACHING THE GREAT LAKES BY
SATURDAY MORNING. SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO FALL NORTH OF THE TRACK OF
THE LOW. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO COME TO AN END ACROSS THE NORTHERN
PLAINS BY EARLY SATURDAY...BUT WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE GREAT
LAKES THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY. ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 4 TO 6
INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS BEFORE SNOW COMES
TO AN END. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE
ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. GUSTY WINDS
WILL CONTINUE TO ACCOMPANY THE STORM AS IT MOVES NORTHEASTWARD.
