EFFECT FOR MUCH OF LOUISIANA AND EASTWARD ALONG THE GULF COAST TO
SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI.

AT 300 AM CDT...THE CENTER OF A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WITH A SEA
LEVEL PRESSURE OF ABOUT 1006 MB...29.71 INCHES...WAS LOCATED IN
CENTRAL LOUISIANA NEAR ALEXANDRIA. ANOTHER SURFACE LOW...ABOUT 25
MILES WEST OF SHREVEPORT...LOUISIANA...HAD JOINED WITH A FRONTAL
SYSTEM STRETCHING SOUTHWARD INTO EASTERN AND SOUTHERN TEXAS AND
NORTHWARD INTO THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. ABUNDANT TROPICAL MOISTURE
HAS BEEN FEEDING INTO THE SYSTEM FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO FOR THE
PAST WEEK OR SO AND THIS HAS LED TO WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAINFALL
ACROSS THE GULF STATES. OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS THIS ACTIVITY
HAS BEEN MAINLY FOCUSED IN LOUISIANA AND SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY
INDICATE THAT THE BULK OF THE HEAVY RAIN WAS CURRENTLY FALLING TO
THE SOUTH OF THE LOW CENTERS OVER MUCH OF SOUTHERN LOUISIANA.

GULF OF MEXICO WILL CONTINUE TO FEED INTO THE SYSTEM...RESULTING
IN VERY HEAVY RAINFALL MAINLY TO THE SOUTH OF THE LOW TRACK.
ADDITIONAL WIDESPREAD RAINFALL TOTALS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES...WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS...ARE FORECAST FOR MUCH OF LOUISIANA
THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING. FLASH FLOODING WILL BE A SERIOUS CONCERN.
BY SUNDAY EVENING AND INTO MONDAY...THE RISK OF HEAVY RAINFALL AND
FLASH FLOODING WILL SHIFT TO THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AS THE
FRONTAL SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED LOW STALLS OVER THE AREA.
