FLASH FLOOD WATCHES AND WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR THE COASTAL
COUNTIES OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AND OVER PARTS OF THE
FOOTHILLS SECTION OF SACRAMETO AND JOAQUIN VALLEYS.

WINTER STORM WARNINGS ARE EFFECT FOR MUCH OF THE SIERRA NEVADA.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT FOR PARTS OF INTERIOR
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA INTO SOUTHERN OREGON AND EASTERN NEVADA.

AT 600 AM PST...A STRONG FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH A BROAD LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM IN THE EASTERN PACIFIC WAS BRINGING PLENTY OF
MOISTURE INLAND ACROSS MUCH OF THE WEST COAST. THE NORTHERN HALF
OF THE COLD FRONT WAS MOVING INTO THE GREAT BASIN WHILE THE
SOUTHERN HALF WAS STILL PUSHING TOWARD SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

INDICATED WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION CONTINUED TO STREAM
NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE WESTERN U.S. WITH THE HEAVIEST RAIN MOVING
ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN WAS
ALSO BEING REPORTED ACROSS THE COASTAL PACIFIC NORTHWEST...AND WAS
MOVING THROUGH THE NORTHERN ROCKIES AND CENTRAL GREAT BASIN.

A SERIES OF LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS WITH HIGH MOISTURE CONTENT FROM
THE PACIFIC OCEAN ARE FORECAST TO IMPACT THE WESTERN U.S. THIS
WEEK. THE FIRST OF THESE SYSTEMS...WHICH IS CURRENTLY MOVING INTO
THE WEST COAST...WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL OF FLASH FLOODING ACROSS
NORTHERN AND CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AND HEAVY SNOW IN THE SIERRA
NEVADA TODAY. THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF LATER ON
SUNDAY BEFORE ANOTHER ROUND OF PRECIPITATION WHICH IS FORECAST TO
ARRIVE SUNDAY NIGHT WITH THE NEXT SYSTEM. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF 2
TO 5 INCHES IS EXPECTED THROUGH TUESDAY WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS IN THE COASTAL SECTIONS OF CALIFORNIA AND NEARBY MOUNTAIN
RANGES...WITH LESSER AMOUNTS EXTENDING NORTHWARD INTO THE
CASCADES. THE SIERRA NEVADA IS EXPECTED TO SEE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
UPWARD FROM 1 FOOT TO 3 FEET THROUGH TUESDAY.
