Model guidance and the ensemble means are in fairly decent
agreement with maintaining a longwave trough from the Bering Sea
to the Mainland through much of the extended periods, hinting that
some ridging may develop near the Canadian border by the end of
the forecast. This supports a series of low pressure systems will
move across the Aleutians and parts of the Mainland this weekend
and into the coming week. This will favor a wet pattern with near
normal temperatures for far northern and southern portions of the
state. Locally heavy rain will be possible along the coast from
the eastern Kenai to Yakutat.
