STORM SUMMARY NUMBER 21 FOR THE REMNANTS OF GORDON
NATIONAL CENTERS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PREDICTION
HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL PREDICTION CENTER...NWS...CAMP SPRINGS MD
7:00 AM EDT TUE SEP 19 2000

...THE REMNANTS OF "GORDON" WILL CONTINUE TO WEAKEN AS IT MOVES
RAPIDLY  NORTH-NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE MIDDLE ATLANTIC STATES...

AT 6:00 AM EDT THE CENTER OF GORDON WAS NEAR 36.0N 79.1W, OR ABOUT 12
MILES NW OF DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA.  IT SHOULD CONTINUE TO PROGRESS 
NORTH-NORTHEAST AT AROUND 20 MPH.  THE CENTRAL PRESSURE WAS 1011 MB
WITH WINDS AROUND 10 MPH OCCURRING NORTH OF THE CENTER.  WINDS OF
20-30 MPH WERE OCCURRING WELL EAST OF THE CENTER ALONG THE COASTS
OF NORTH CAROLINA AND VIRGINIA.

THE LATEST REGIONAL RADAR PICTURES SHOW AREAS OF MODERATE TO
HEAVY RAIN OVER WESTERN VIRGINIA AND EAST OF THE OUTER BANKS OF
NORTH CAROLINA.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS AS OF 5:00 AM EDT TUESDAY.

THE REMNANTS OF GORDON WILL EXIT NORTH CAROLINA  AND MOVE INTO
SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA BY TUESDAY MORNING, THEN LIFT NORTH-
NORTHEASTWARD IN VICINITY OF THE NEW JERSEY COAST BY TUESDAY
EVENING AND EVENTUALLY ALONG THE NEW ENGLAND COAST TUESDAY
NIGHT.

THIS WILL BE THE LAST STORM SUMMARY ISSUED.
