...There is a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Ohio
Valley and Central Appalachians on Tuesday...
A front extending from the Great Lakes to the Texas Panhandle will move
eastward off the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Coast and across the Southeast
Coast to the Gulf Coast by Wednesday evening. Moisture streaming northward
from the Gulf will intersect the boundary over the Ohio Valley and
Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley, producing showers and thunderstorms with
heavy rain. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of
excessive rainfall over parts of the Ohio Valley and Middle/Lower
Mississippi Valley through Tuesday morning. The associated heavy rain
will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas,
roads, small streams, and low-lying areas being the most vulnerable.
In addition, showers and thunderstorms will extend along the front into
the Great Lakes and over parts of the Central/Southern Plains through
Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday, as the front moves eastward, showers and thunderstorms with
heavy rain will also move eastward to the Ohio Valley and Central
Appalachians. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of
excessive rainfall over parts of the Ohio Valley and Central Appalachians
from Tuesday through Wednesday morning. The associated heavy rain will
create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas, roads,
small streams, and low-lying areas being the most vulnerable.
Furthermore, showers and thunderstorms will develop along and near the
boundary over parts of the Northeast. Moreover, on Tuesday, showers and
thunderstorms are expected to grow over the Southern Rockies/Southern High
Plains through Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, by Tuesday evening, a second front will move onshore over the
Pacific Northwest and into Northern California by Wednesday evening.
Westerly flow off the Pacific will aid in producing rain over parts of the
Pacific Northwest Coast and inland on Wednesday evening.
